Origane

It has been suggested that as time passes the psychological bases of memory tend to change. This is what we call Origane.

ORIGANE Films is an independent film production based in Davao City. Created nearly ten years ago, it has already produced five narrative short films (“Cricket” and “Ngilngig Stories”), one feature film (“Way to the Sunset”), and numerous experimental films, indpendently developed in Davao City. Origane Films has also been showcased in film festivals including Mindanao Film Festival, Cinemarehiyon and Binisaya Film festival.

Gibberish

THEY HAVE DEFINED WORDS EVEN GIBBERISH

bagane fiola

Because public opinion is sometimes marsiflate, empetricious insoculences are frequently zophilimized. Nevertheless, it cannot be overemphasized that carpoflansibles are highly tranculate.

Okay. So you don’t understand some words written above but you were impressed maybe because they were new to you. You think it’s cool because it sounded like complicated; written by some “writers” who write for political campaign speeches or ads for indigestion remedies. You think it’s cool. Nevertheless, you get to understand the whole essence of the message, but you were so consumed by these “new words” that you seem to possess the crave to memorize them so you could use them fluently to impress others the way you think you were impressed by them. Perhaps you’d consult the dictionary that could tell you then what these words “really mean”. The way you understand them, with your divine instinct, would eventually vanish because you’ve regarded the dictionary as the ultimate answer to your confusions with words. Now if you use these words for what ever hell reason you have in your mind, do you think people will understand you, and the way you intended to relay your message? Perhaps you wouldn’t even mind to understand yourself at all.

Are you one of the many people who believe that if they have defined a word they know what it means?

Some words written above, of course, are pure gibberish. You can’t really find them in the dictionary. But what about the thought you had in your mind when you first heard these new words. Couldn’t that thought become a definition to these “gibberish” words?

WAY TO THE SUNSET (夕日への道) will be on screen at the Cinematheque Davao this coming Sept 8 Saturday at 3:00PM.

The film whose theme is inspired by the remnants of Davao’s Japanese heritage found in the small number of Japanese descendants or Nikkei-Jins living in the city. And with the lives of ‘Japinos’ or children born of mixed Japanese-Filipino parentage.

Way to the Sunset was first showcased as an exhibition film at the 5th Mindanao Film Festival last December 19-20, 2009. It was also screened in the annual Cinema Rehiyon, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, as one of the four official 2010 delegates from Davao.
